This overgrown former garden of a long abandoned cottage high in the Comeragh's is partly sheltered by stone walls. It is not hard to imagine root crops like potatoes being gown here by a family struggling to survive in this beautiful but bleak location. It is possible that the 1850's Great Famine drove the occupants out - never to return.
