Situated near Bunmahon this remote beach is now inaccessible by land. This is my personal favourite of all the images I have taken in this captivating place, rich in the folklore of the coppermines, that gave this area its name. The mines ran under the sea and were very productive until its main customer the Southern Confederate States in America had their ports blockaded by the Union in 1861. The business didn't survive the US Civil War, and copper mining ceased in this part of Ireland forever.
