About Terry
Terry Murphy has been a successful commerical photographer for over thirty five years. Initially he worked exclusively for the world famous Waterford crystal company in the city of his birth, Waterford, in the south east of Ireland. The images he produced were seen and admired around the world.
Landscape photography which started as a hobby grew into a consuming passion. His unique understanding of how light reveals texture and form, gained as a photographer of crystal has helped shape how he sees the world around him.
Waterford is a rugged, bare, romantic county, offering wild and lonely mountain scenery and rugged coastal vistas within a hours drive of the city. It is here that terry can be found in all seasons.
He was not the first to experiment digital photographic techniques but was one of the first in ireland to embrace the technology.
Terry was trained in the traditional techniques of Black & White darkroom work and has interfaced all he learned about chemicals and light sensitive paper when he processes raw digital images to-day.
He says that the images he captures are not as the camera sees them but rather as how he imagines they should look under the right lighting conditions.
He sees light as a photographer should - as an artist brush deftly applying the right colours or tone to canvas to make objects become almost three dimensional.
View the images alone ...for that is how they were captured: let them tell you of how this corner of the world looks , imagine yourself standing there, drinking in the atmosphere of this unspoilt land.
And if you do get the time to come and visit a land steaped in history, shaped by wind and waves and ancient glaciers and recorded for eternity by the lens of one of lrelands greatest practioners of the art of photography.
